Organizers
Fernando A. DelgadoFernando A. Delgado is a Ph.D. student in the College of Computing and Information Science at Cornell University. Prior to commencing his doctoral studies, Fernando worked as a legal technologist in industry, designing and deploying algorithmic systems for forensic text analysis and evidentiary fact-finding in civil litigation and white collar investigations. His current academic research focuses on the design, evaluation, and governance of AI systems in the law.
His previous degrees include an M.S. in Organizational Management from The New School, an M.A. in Linguistics and B.A. (with Highest Honors) in French from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. His current doctoral research is supported by the McNair Scholars Program , the MacArthur Foundation program on Technology in the Public Interest, and the Russell Sage Foundation initiative on Computational Social Science. |
Teresa FlanaganTeresa is a fourth-year Ph.D. student in the Psychology Department with a minor in Cognitive Science. She is interested in how children's social and moral relationships with interactive technologies are influenced by the technologies appearance, abilities, and actions. She conducts her research at Cornell and Duke's Early Childhood Cognition Lab with Dr. Tamar Kushnir.

Meir FriedenbergMeir Friedenberg is a fifth year PhD student in the computer science department at Cornell. He's interested in what we can do to try to ensure that the impacts of AI are broadly positive. Much of his research to date has focused on formalizing notions of responsibility from the legal and philosophical literature, though recently he's started to explore questions around how people actually interact with AI systems. He also has long standing interests in how AI, and computer more generally, may be able to be used to improve mental health care.

Beatrys RodriguesBeatrys is a Ph.D. student at the Department of Communication. She graduated with a specialization in Consumer & Material Culture: Semiopsychanalitic Perspectives and a BA in Social Communications with an emphasis in Advertising from the University of São Paulo. Her work explores the relationship between technology and gender, with a focus on societal impacts of artificial intelligence. She also researches decolonial future studies and how sci-fi informs emerging technology. Prior to Cornell, she helped private and public organizations to understand technology, digital culture, and emerging trends through research, education, and strategy.
